The metering unit behind AI work — what a credit is, where to see yours, and why nothing is spending them yet.

AI work is metered in credits. This page is short because the honest version is short: chat costs nothing, you are given an allowance every month, and today there is nothing in the product that spends one.

Asking questions is free and is not counted. If you open /usage and see the full allowance untouched, that is correct rather than a reporting error.

What a credit is for

Credits meter the one-click analyses and tasks — the pre-built runs that go away, do a piece of work against your records and come back with it, rather than answering a question in a thread. Those are built and tested on the server, and they have no entry point in the interface at the moment, which is why nothing you can reach today costs anything.

That is stated here rather than left out because a credit balance with no explanation invites the wrong conclusion. You are not being metered on conversation, and you have not used something up without noticing.

Where to see yours

Type / in the chat composer and pick usage. It answers with a real read of your own account: credits left, used, granted, and how many runs were made this period. It only reads — opening it does not spend, mint or change anything.

How the allowance works

  • It is per calendar monththe period runs from the first of the month to the first of the next.
  • It arrives on its ownthe allowance is granted to your account; there is nothing to claim and nothing to do. Alltra is free today, and a credit is a unit of metering rather than of money.
  • It is minted when it is first neededa month in which nothing has cost anything has no ledger entries at all, and /usage reports the standard allowance rather than a zero.

Nothing is quietly rewritten

The ledger only ever gains rows. A grant, a charge, a refund and a correction are each their own entry, and your balance is the sum of them — so a movement can always be traced to what caused it. Nothing edits a previous line, which is what makes “where did that go?” a question with an answer.

A run that fails or is cancelled is refunded, as its own entry rather than by undoing the charge. And work that cannot be paid for does not start: it is refused up front instead of half-running and leaving a mess to reconcile.
